Santander UK names Paul Horlock chief payments officer

Santander UK has announced that Paul Horlock will become chief payments officer in the new year.

Horlock, who is currently chief executive of payments industry body Pay.UK, will be responsible for creating a single UK payments team in his new role. He will also work alongside the European region as part of One Santander.

Horlock has more than 15 years’ experience in the payments sector, having previously held senior positions at both Nationwide and Barclays.

“This is a fantastic appointment for Santander,” said chief executive Tony Prestedge. “Paul has unrivalled experience and expertise and will use this to bring our payments strategy, functions, risk management, infrastructure and digital development together to help ensure that we are able to offer our customers a market leading end to end experience.

“Paul is renowned for encouraging innovation and collaboration and this approach will enable us to support our wider Group ambitions in the global payments sector.”
